  • Mom's SAS shoes are sandals, loafers, and dress flats for the opera, since she won't wear heels any more. Quality care is kitchen work, chopping fruits and veggies, washing dishes, cleaning fridge and freezers, and doing laundry. She could also do front desk work as she trained for that a few years back and still does animal intakes.
She'll probably stay at the museum until she drops, she loves it there and it's easier to do an hour tour than a shift at the center.
Today was a beautiful summer day! [] [] The sun was bright and shining, and the temps got to high 80s here. It's been cool nights and really warm days, which is great weather all around.
Mom and the girls finally dropped off the Sunday sports section of the NYTimes to Jeff today when they walked. He came over later and said he had no phone or TV, so he called Verizon from here. They can't send a technician until Thursday!!!
Mom had the first docent meeting since May today. It took place at the largest city park around, Frick. Mom used to walk dogs there every day before she moved here, so she knows the park really well. They have an environmental center which is where the meeting took place. After some museum business, the docents heard a little talk from Carya, a dendrologist. Then they went for a walk in the woods. He called the walk Drink your Trees, and everyone had a small cup with them. They went into the woods and there was an immediate difference in temperature and ambient noises. At the first stop, an eastern hemlock, they tasted hemlock tea made from the needles. They continued walking and talking about trees, and did a lot of looking up. Later they stopped by a spicebush tree, and Carya gave them a tea from the berries and leaves of that one. It was interesting. At one stop there was a huge fallen tree, so they got to sit and listen while he talked about oaks. After that they stopped at a hickory tree and he showed them sapsucker marks on the bark, what the nuts look like, and gave them a sample of hickory bark tea. It was kind of nasty to mom. It tasted like hickory smoke smells. They had some paperwork to do when they got back, of course, and had lunch there. Mom didn't get home until after 2, so she didn't get to the pool today. She's hoping tomorrow is as pretty as today was.
I hope you had a good day today and a lovely evening, too. Hugs and kisses, [] [] [] [] [] Falco
